The first is Pennhurst Asylum which houses the most dangerous criminally insane. The Morgue is new for 2018 and is your full service mortuary. Containment brings you underneath the Pennhurst Complex with over 1,200 feet long of tunnels. Finally, the Mayflower allows you to explore the most haunted building on the grounds at your own pace with just a flashlight. The buildings and grounds are impressive enough, but what brings it all to life is the actors. The group of actors are highly trained and as a group are one of the most talented in the business. Like the Creeper of the Jeeper’s Creepers horror franchise, the actors of Pennhurst feed off your fears. They know how to scare and make you scream. In fact, they had the best actor of 2017 in Valerie Wierbicki, who was the ghost of Pennhurst. Add the rooms, set designs and story lines that go with it all, Pennhurst is one of the Best Haunted Attractions in the country.  The Haunt Hunters will be making a return trip in 2018 to see if the team at Pennhurst can continue to push the Haunt Industry further.

Ambrosio's deliver Haunts

Saylorsburg, PA - Every year Haunt owners descend upon Transworld In St Louis, Missouri for the National Convention of Haunted Attractions looking for the next biggest and baddest prop that they can purchase to include in their Haunt. Transworld offers Haunt owners the so many different products from makeup and masks to props and animatronics.  "If we go to transworld and buy the next biggest prop, then we have what everyone else has" says M Ambrosio, who has been a Haunt owner for 10 years, " we don't want to be like everyone else". Considering the location of the Hotel of Horror, an abandoned Lake House in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania, they are not like everyone else.

For Dan and Marlo Ambrosio, the owners of Hotel of Horror in Saylorsburg, PA, the next big thing lies within the creativity of their actors, who have managed to stay together as a team for 10 years. They  push their boundaries in the industry and push each other. "We don't have a big turnover of actors" says M.Abrosio, "this season in particulate, we only had 4 openings." This speaks volumes in the industry because often times Haunted Attractions have to replace their actors every season. It is like the Free Agency of Football, but this is not the case at Hotel of Horror. The actor retention rate is very high and this allows them to deliver a great experience.

"We exhaust ourselves in all that we do to provide a great experience for the customer" says M Ambrosio "we have such a great team of actors that do such a great job every night". So good is the acting that one of the Actors Tony Massa received the Best Actor Award from the Nationally Recognized Haunt Hunters for his character Toukatsu. A role that required him to learn Japanese and employ the rare Susuki acting method.

If you have experienced the Hotel of Horror, it goes without saying that there is some paranormal activity that takes place. There is a presence that seems to follow you throughout the Hotel. "We don't really talk about it too much, or exploit the whole ghost thing, but there is a energy that  drives us evert night" says M.Ambrosio "It allows us to work amongst them."

The Haunted Hotel is filled with high tech lights and tricks but most of all energetic, enthusiastic actors that will attack your senses. 2017 brings newly renovated scenes will make you think you just stepped into a horror movie. Infection is the next section of the Estate. This interactive game of survival puts you in a zombie wasteland donning a flag belt with 3 flags representing your vital organs. Your goal, get out with your organs or become a ZOMBIE yourself!!! This task may seem simple but not with hungry zombies around every corner.
A new day has come. Life as you know it is gone. Friends, family... they don’t exist anymore!  Towns are destroyed, bridges are burned down. There is no other Haunted Attraction that is as authentic as a an abandoned 200 year old Pocono Mountain Resort once called the Lake House. You are climbing stairs, walking through rooms that are part of the the actual Hotel. There are no facades here, only the characters that were created from the energy that is released from the building itself. If Zak Bagans of Ghost Adventures is correct in saying that chills and pockets of extreme cold are indications of paranormal activity, then your paranormal radar will be on high alert. This is some of the events that happen aside from all of the action that is taking place within the 2 different Haunted Attractions in the Hotel of Horror and Altered Nightmares. The energy and passion that goes into this Haunt each season is at the industries highest level and that is one of the main ingredients to their success each year. “We let our actors be a part of the Haunt” says Haunt owner Maria Ambrosio,who owns and operated the Hotel with her husband Dan, “this allows them to be part of the creative process and have more of a vested interest in the Haunt.” This approach has worked well, the actors are on the top of their game and some even become their characters that they have created. Haunt Actor Tony Massa even learned Japanese for his role of Toukatsu in 2016, which earned Massa the Best Haunt Actor award presented by Mr Haunt and the Haunt Hunters. This Haunt was in the top 3 for 2016 with one of the Highest Grades for the Season and is worth making the trip.
